Please join us in celebration.

While San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara each put on excellent Pride celebrations, it is high time that Santa Maria has it's own annual Pride event.  Santa Maria has over 100,000 residents, many being of Latinx and Mixteco descent.  The intersectionality of being queer and of already marginalized communities is often a tough situation to be in.   HOPE / ESPERANZA believes that being a part of a community of like-minded people is a key component of caring for oneself and others.  By hosting the Santa Maria Pride Celebration and Resource Fair HOPE / ESPERANZA is bringing the community together and creating social change and awareness for Latinx LGBTQ+ people and allies alike.  With 700+ pride goers, 35 community organizations and over 60 volunteers present at last year's Pride Celebration and Resource Fair, it was proven that our community needs LGBTQ+ specific events to raise awareness, visibility, provide opportunities to celebrate our uniqueness, and bring people from our large community together.  We can't wait to celebrate with you at the 2018 Santa Maria Pride Celebration and Resource Fair!  See you there!

Last year was our "Coming Out."  This year our theme is "History of Hope," in which we will be highlighting queer artists, writers, performers and activists that throughout the years fought for our rights that we enjoy today.  In line with our mission of education around LGBTQ+ issues, be on the look out for the many beautiful faces and biographies of those that came before us posted at this year's Pride Celebration and Resource Fair.
